Phase two is going to begin - color.

So I have few questions.

1. I think about cleaning the rust with sand pressure if this is common way?
2. if it better to use primer color because today there is good paints that not need primer?
3. what color I need to use some international number like R.A.l to preserved the original brown?

Hi Ori,

sand pressure is a good way. Till down to the pure metall.

You must need a primer color! Its better against rust.

We have in the forum the user "doccolor". He have the original color in Bottle for airpistol or in Spraybottle also for easy use. Contact him.

I`m very happy for you, that you`re the SR1 built on. And at the end: hit the Israel roads.

Hello!

To your questions:

1. The best way to remove old painture and rust from the parts is brushing with fine sand and (medium) pressure. But - after that you have to paint it as soon as possible with any kind of primer against new rust. The humidity in the air ist enough to have a fin golden-brown rush after a short wile.
2. Your second question is hereby obsolete ;-).
After brushing with sand you have a fine pitting on the surface - so you have to fill it with special filler to produce a good finish before painturing with a color painture. OK - the sandpaper has to be your best friend after fillering and before painting.
My way is to use first grain size 400 and for the last grinding grain size 600. That should be enough.
3. Colors - we have had some discussions about that. RAL tones are almost not applicable. One exception: For the "maroon" color you can use black-red RAL 3007. I don't know the ISO standard for this color or if it at all exists

Hallo everybody

After watching the remarkable job that essermopi did with his Sr2e,
I decided to give up with the sand cleaning.

Feeling the material under my hand and hoping that my tooth will not falling apart.

I try to use paint remover that not tickle "kitzeln" at all.

After spending hours in the internet and searching for Volvo that simson museum recommend and looking for R.A.L, Sikkens numbers I found the answer in my bike

Under the fuel tank and on the " Lenker" under the bike manufacture number area that not expose to the sunlight.
So my impression is that the true color is Khaki, Staubfarben yellowish-brown color and not beige grayish yellow light brown color that describe in the forum.

And of course I must to ask a question, that orange strips "Linien" if it made by pen and if yes
I need to know the name of it.

the original name of your color is "beige". doccolor has this original color in use. Again: contact him!

The color of lines is "terracotta" I must search a photo from my SR1 in beige and terrcotta...moment, please

Your Kesselflicker (*g*) will not be able to provide you this special color-pen. It's made by Sir Norbert himself!

In another thread from Norbert it's written how to do this - with a pimped color-pen. Wait a second, I have to look, where....
