My SR2 is now in a museum!

I dropped off my 57 SR2 at the Glenn Curtiss aviation museum today. It will be in permanent display or until I decided to remove it. It is a very rare moped here in the US and the museum was very excited to add it to their collection. Here is a pic of my oldest daughter posing with it. The moped next to it is a restored 1953 Bianchi.

I think its not just very rare in the US, it might be the only one there.

As far as I know it is the only one in the US. Certainly the only one running and in this condition. I am very honored to have it displayed so others can enjoy. Plus it is now safe so it can't be damaged in my garage.

It's a very nice one, not complete original but very pretty!

No idea how it cam in to the US. I got it from a guy who got it from a guy... and so on. What can you see that is not original? I would be interested in replacing anything I can to make it more original. I know the throttle cable is not original because I changed it myself. It has original tires but the tubes were bad so I changed them. I was going to change the handle bar grips but I decided to leave them to give it a more original look even though they are in bad shape.

The cover of the saddle is not original, also the front part of the horn and the ring is missing, but the saddle ist the most conspicuous part.The handle bar grips look very good!

Here you can get an original one. The Dealer also sent it to US.

Auf deinem Bild ist an dritter Stelle von links ein Ring den ich noch nie gesehen habe. Bei keiner meiner Hupen war so einer drin. Ist der Original oder Marke Eigenbau.

Das ist eine Papierdichtung, die außerdem den Klang der Membrane weniger scheppern lässt.

SR2 were exported to Western Germany (BRD before 1990). It is possible that such a vehicle has come into the hands of U.S. soldiers stationed in Germany, and he has taken it in the home. The rims speak for an export vehicle.
